Im in Trickham, just west of Brownwood, they are coming into corn when they feel like having a snack and something different than acorns and all the other "greens" they like. I got back yesterday from this past weekends hunting and saw 6 deer at 3 different feeders and about 9 hens and jakes. Its gonna get better real quick. As I was sitting in the tripods in the different oaks I didnt hear or get rained on by acorns so they are almost done with the drop. Good Luck.

Man last year I was on a lease in The Panhandle in Roaring Springs. My 1st thought when I seen the place was "*****m" all this mesquite and cedar what am I gonna hunt out of. I was used to hunting out of live oaks, either in ladder stand or tripod shoved in a good live oak stand of trees. Luckily my one of my tripods was able to convert to 6ft and the other was just shy of 12'. I was able to locate good spots with the help of one the guys there and find suitable cedar trees that they fit in perfectly. In saying all this without the live oaks and acorns available the deer were coming to corn all year round. Got me a nice buck as well as one the biggest does I've ever dragged, loaded and skinned out I've ever seen. My processor in Alvarado didnt believe me when I told him it was a doe til I showed him the head. Hahahaha. Good Luck this season guys.

I'm about 10 or so miles north of Brownwood. Haven't hunted yet but when I was there in mid-September we had a lot of deer coming to corn. I will be there later this week and hope things haven't changed too much. Looking at the weather it looks like it is going to be hot. I see the moon is waning maybe we will have a little cloud cover to add to it.
Good luck to you.
