    Home theater in a box

TV bit the dust a couple of weeks ago and new one is being sought to take place

At the same time the old Pioneer surround/DVD player was donated to my recently moved out son

Looking at replacement blu ray/ surround systems and figured by now everything was HDMI input/output but finding most have HDMI in but no out
So question is, do I need HDMI out from surround to TV?
    I don't know much about TV/audio "stuff"

No need to suggest Bose, Klipsh, or any other high end stuff

Would like to keep around $250-300

More than likely you would have an optical out from the tv to the surround sound, no reason for the surround to go to the tv. HDMI from blue ray etc to tv
And optical to sound. That’s how ours is hooked up and works great.

The surround sound, blue ray if one unit would need hdmi to the tv, everything is carried through hdmi. If separate units it would be setup as above

Klipsch has a sound bar with sub in your price range. I'll forward you an email from them.

I bought from B'jorns in San Antonio, 64 inch with sound system they delivered and setup but our DVD player plugged right into the tv only thing I needed was a new wifi router

              I stand corrected on Klipsh

Guess I should have just said what my budget was

Most new tvs come with the hdmi sound output because, most all new sound systems connect to tv with hdmi cable. They also have optical connections but I have no idea if they're better or worse.

The reason I know is because recently I bought a sound bar to go with my 10 yr old tv and my tv did not have hdmi or optical connection for sound bar, so I had to buy a special analog converter.
