    Whats wrong with my bow?

I just bought a Mathews Halon 32 a week ago after my old bow blew up, and I was out shooting yesterday afternoon when it started making a strange noise. I was shooting 4 arrows at a time, and it did it once on the first round... That arrow went about 6" low. The next round it did it twice sending one arrow 6" straight up, and the other 6" straight down.

It almost sounds like its being dry fired, its a sharp crack kind of noise... I stopped shooting after that second round to try and figure out what is going on. My thought is that it could be that my knock is too loose. I'm thinking that my old bow's serving was thicker which may have widened my knocks. The problem is that I don't want to guess that this is the problem, get new knocks, and end up damaging this brand new bow because I'm wrong.

Any of you have any input on this?

only shoot one arrow at a time for better accuracy....

check the cams and check the beams real close, don't want to get injured. same arrow? did you mark it? Make a small mark and figure out if it's the singular arrow

I've had a QAD rest make that sound when it wasn't releasing. The arrow would slap it as it wasn't being fully cocked back to allow for the mechanism to release properly.

This is just a WAG; but it could be the rest or contact with the rest.

If it is a fall away rest it may not be getting out of the way each time or it may be incorrectly timed.

I don't think the problem is a loose nock, as long as the nock is on the string at release it should be fine. A loose nock could cause the high/low misses if it is able to walk up and down the string a little bit, but it would not account for the noise.

Something may be loose. You may have a loose mod on one, or both, of the cams.

It could be a bad arrow, like westguy76 said; check to make sure it isn't split, cracked or damaged in some way, especially the nock end.

Without seeing and hearing it myself I can't really say, but this is where I would start. Crazy arrow flight and strange noises aren't good, get it to a pro shop before you get hurt or hurt someone else (with a really stray arrow).

Change a string recently and n had similar issues, very minor adjustment on timing of the rest (QAD) cleaned it up.

I didn't think about the drop away not getting out of the way. Its not one particular arrow. I'm shooting 4 arrows before retrieving them. The first round it was just one arrow. The second round it was 2 arrows. I flex my arrows before every round, and I tried to find if something was loose but everything seemed snug to me.

if you are in Beaumont, make the short trip to Precision and they will get you looked at and repaired quickly.....probably in less time then you will spend chasing a ghost.

You don’t need new nocks just make a single wrap with thin serving line. I use bright orange serving so I can see it in my Krivo blind. That does not sound like the problem though. As stated above it is most likely the timing on your fall away rest.

Is the felt on the rest getting messed up? If so that is a sure sign the rest is not getting out of the way.

Loud crack would check all screws as well on the module. That can lead to bow issues very quickly. Take it by a bow shop, they should be able to figure this out and correct pretty quick

That is what I'm planning on doing, I just didn't want to make the trip down there this time of year for something stupid and simple...

Don't leave it to a bunch of internet bow techs to guess what it could be. Get to your local bow shop and let them find your problem. Most likely an easy fix on a rig that new but you could have a serious issue that could cause injury if the worst happened.
