Larue predatar 7.62 or Daniel Defense v1 7.62

Debating which one to get. I need your help in deciding which one I should pull the trigger on. The main use will be shooting suppressed hog hunts and some long distance shooting.

Why? I am not familiar with Larue but see DD everywhere and they look pretty. If they preform as good as they look it would be tough to beat them. To me AR's are all the same unless you start talking about accuracy or fit and finish.

I'll pay $400 to $800 for a run of the mil AR but will pay $1000 to $6000 for an AR that is half inch MOA and depending on the caliber.

For the record I know Larue is high quality I'm just wondering why it is better than Daniel Defense?

Fielders choice IMO. Both are extremely high quality rifles.
I would go Larue because it's a Texas company, but that's just preference.

Either way, you'll get your money's worth.

Do some reading up on suppressing an AR 10. There are cycling issues to deal with. Call which ever manufacturer you chose and let them know what you intend and also what suppressor you will use. It may save you from headaches down the road. I am still fiddling with my POF and Sig SRD 7.62. My 300blk has been more reliable and slings the same weight as the 308. Oh and less expensive as well.

I vote Larue... they are a great, Texas based, company to deal with. They have a deal going on right now on their build kits. i have been seriously debating picking one up myself.

DD makes a great rifle too, you can't go wrong with either.

Both are gonna be fairly heavy to carry hog hunting. If you're dead set on 308 check out JP or even better a Christensen carbon fiber. Also V7 and 2A Armament. I'm a big fan of 2A. I have a 4.9 pound 6.8 built of their receivers. None of what I listed is cheap though. I have a predatar and it's a nice rifle but there's a lot more options now than there were when the predatar first came out. Also, the Larue branded barrels aren't anywhere as good as the Lowthar Walther barrels they used to use. Opinion only there. DD makes a fine AR as well and I own a couple of theirs also. Not known for accuracy but known for reliability. It's held true with the ones I have had.

Very very true. Make sure you have adjustable gas on whatever you get if you're going to suppress. But have to disagree on the 300AAC part. I tried to make it work for hog hunting and I have a couple of them still but they just don't have the power to knock down big pork like some other options. It's just physics. Can't fit enough powder in that tiny little case to carry that heavy bullet downrange like I'd want. Switched to 6.8 and gained a ton of knockdown power with very few drawbacks.

Here's that 2A lightweight 10. That's a bad mother right there. Less than 7 pounds.

The Christensen isn't as light as I thought:

Sorry I was assuming subsonic. Basically keeping the bullet below 1150 fps. If you're shooting supersonic then yes the 308 will be faster with the same weight.
220gn at 1050fps is the same energy down range 308 or 300.

^^ oh yeah subsonic for sure. I have an AAC handi rifle. I load 245 gr Missouri Bullet Co cast bullets at about 900 fps. Pellet gun quiet and super fun to dust coons and such with.
