Opening morning coon-correct forum

Still in the stand but just smoked a coon from about 38 yards. The way it went down kind of made me feel bad.

Walking the edge of a field when I shot her and right when the arrow went through her like 7 babies came out and started crying and crawling all over her. Maybe I'm soft hearted, but it made me feel bad for a moment.

That is pretty jacked up. I've killed plenty of raccoons but I actually think they're cool. I know, I know they eat corn. But who's putting corn in their yard?lol

Don't get me wrong I've shot plenty of baby skunks,hogs and prairie dogs. I just wouldn't kill a momma or baby raccoon. They're fun to watch.

I wouldn't kill a baby coyote either and I shoot grown up coyotes all Winter. Weird how that works.

I don't know about feeling sorry for the baby raccoons now though. Unless you can resuscitate momma you might as well kill the rest of em. It's a done deal now.

Just load them all up in a box and take them to the vet.

Had a mama Coon and babies take up residence in a boat of mine once. They tore it up pretty good. And yes, I killed every one of them.
