Winch question

I need to buy a winch to put on my flatbed truck for a hay spear. What size do you think I need? I don't want an overkill just need it to lift a hay bale. Thanks

I'd rate it to pull the flatbed out. You know you'll try it sooner or later.

But you have two types to choose from, electric, or hydraulic.

If your gonna use it alot, you may want hydraulic. Ive seen electrics burn out, but that was way back. They may be much better nowadays.

Hydraulics wont overheat, but you have to have your vehicle running and upright.

Electrics can burn out, can be heavier and larger than hydraulics, but you dont have to have the engine running.
