We have hunted the Davis Mtns between Ft. Stockton & Alpine many times in the past. Great area with lots of javi's. The ranch we hunted had feeders you could hunt, but we liked driving the roads and spotting the javi's on the hillsides and using the ole spot and stalk method. The country is neat and can be steep and rough, you can see possibly elk, auodad, mountain lion, whitetails, muleys and turkeys all on one ranch, at least you could on the ranch we hunted.

I camped at the state park one September...the javies come through on a timed release I think...2AM,right before the corn bandits come looking for ice chest to dig into!Want cheap fun...leave 4 hotdogs where they can get to them and hope that 5-6 coons show up! Talk about but kicking contest!I have seen the elk between Ft Davis and Alpine during their rut right off hiway! If you ever stay in state park take plenty of peanuts in a can...the mulie bucks know the sound of them rattling in can and love free treats!
