I have a Rem 742 Woodsmaster in a 30-06 . The scope on it is probably original and no good anymore . My question is what would be a good scope to top it with ??? Sure wish the old school Redfield Widefields were still around !!!

The newer Redfields are a heck of a bang for the buck if you're not wanting to spend a lot of coin on a scope for it.Comment

How far will you be shooting most of the time? 3-9s are a good, versatile choice. Other common scope variables are 1-4, 2-7, 4-12, 4.5-14, 6-18, etc.Comment

I would put a Vortex Diamondback on it then. I'm a Leupold guy and put a low end Leupold on my son's 25-06 but just never seemed right and ended up switching it out with the Diamondback and it was a huge upgrade in performance.Originally posted by buckwild17 View PostComment

I like my vortex crossfire with vbrite crosshairs.
