Thought for sure I'd see a Docmay connect's post after lunch - central time zone.

                      The hunt continues

Caribou hunt should have been over today! We left camp at 6 am with cold temps, wind and rain. I suited up in my kuiu Yukon rain gear and off we went. Our plan was a long hike and glass for bou. It was so foggy and heavy rain we couldn't glass. Decided to drop in to some timber below and call for moose. Immediately I get out front and setup. I hear raking in the brush and here comes horns in the brush out steps a beautiful caribou. I range him at 36 yards and he takes a step of two closer. He is slightly quartering to me and I hit full draw. I put yet 30 yard pin just at halfway up and in the crease and touch the release. I hear a loud pop and never see the arrow where I'm looking!!!! Holy s$&@! The string slapped the crap out of my rain gear and I totally air balled it. We spent the next 4-5 hours trying to get back on him even crawling in the tundra. I ended up soaked and frozen. Was a 3.5 hour hike back to the boat that was a beating! Parts of my hips hurt that I didn't know existed. We did go try for Moose the last hour or so before dark but no joy. Glad to be back at the little cabin and the wood stove now. What an idiot.

Dang Doc! That is one reason I hate to wear extra gear.I know you need it there, but that hurts more then a slap on the arm.
                              Good Luck.
