    Ramcat axis and blood dogs

I have been needing to get an axis in the freezer before WT season starts but sitting in the Krivoman after work has been miserably hot. Yesterday afternoon I got in at 5:15 and it felt like a pressure cooker. After losing about a gallon of fluids I finally had some deer show up. We are covered up in acorns and feeder activity has slowed a bit. Axis started to filter in about 7:15. One of them was a big bodied brute but like always he was the one that stayed in the back screened by all the other deer. When I drew on him he moved too far left for my one open Krivo window but I leaned forward and canted to bow hard right anyway.
I always try to hit them low but this shot looked strange to my eye. I actually thought I might have missed. Watched the GoPro video of the shot and saw that it was a little further back than ideal. Those big low fence axis can go a long ways if you push them. I backed out and called my friend Clark Grabarkewitz to see if he could bring his dogs.
He helped me several times last year on longbow axis shots. We decided to give it 3 hours before we put the dogs out. It was a short track as the dogs went right to him 80 yards away. Mission accomplished. Now I can get ready for WT. Can’t say enough about the dogs. They are priceless in the dark. The Ramcat did a great job as well.

Awesome. I hope at some point to get an axis buck. I have shot axis doe with my recurve, but I guess I am not patient enough for the bucks.

Every deer with trad gear is a trophy. I normally only hunt with trad bows but the axis bucks give me fits. I lost two big ones last year with my recurve. They are just big, tough animals.
