String to Rest to Pin Alignment

How far left or right of string/rest alignment would be considered acceptable for a sight?

Right now my pin is approximately 1/4" left of being in line and that seems a little excessive.

How are you getting this measurement? Are you lining the string up with the length of the arrow on the rest with the bow set in a vise plumb?
