I've got to old to catch calves in the pasture and give an antibiotic shot. Any of you cattle guys have a dart gun you would suggest? Antibiotic shots only. Usually about 7 to 10cc's of Nuflor.

Howdy,
If you don't mind me asking, what's the antibiotic for? I wouldn't suggest a dart gun.

I have used them to deliver Rompun to sedate a wild cow. For subcutaneous injections like Nuflor, I would not trust the SQ darts to work right.
I've had my rounds with respiratory infections.Last edited by Nate Riley; 09-19-2017, 07:51 PM.

I borrowed my vets recently, I'm not sure of the name of the gun but it used 22 lr blanks.
I second draxxin over nuflor, also. I just got through cleaning up a load of cutter bulls and draxxin worked great in the darts for respiratory. I also used it on a couple cows with foot rot.
I was skeptical about using darts but, it is scoped and I was still able to give it in the neck and I didn't get my calves worked up trying to get them to the chute or roping them.
Definitely a great tool.

I use a Cap-Chur CO2 powered gun for work to dart cattle for dystocias and such. If I had the choice again I would go with the PneuDart Model 389 cartridge fired model. Much more consistent shooting. As far as SQ or IM; if you wanted to get the Nuflor SQ PneuDart makes darts with half inch needles that should work just fine.
