    old Bodark posts

I'm looking for some bodark fence posts. Where you're from, they may be bodark, bois d'arc, hedge apple, horse apple, or osage. Same tree.

That's the easy part. Here's the hard part. I'm looking for old material, specifically posts from the earliest days of barbed wire fencing. Pre 1900 preferred, with a story, like "this post came from my great grandpa Bob Johnson's ranch that he started in 1872."

I have regular bodark on hand already. I need the old stuff.

Jason unless the last flood got them I have some at my place north of Edna that had been in the ground for well over a hundred years. Some are still on the ground from when we pulled that fence.

If they're still there you're welcome to them.

Yep, knife handles. In this case, combined with some historical metal including 1872 wrought iron railroad rail and metal from the gate of a ghost town cemetery, 1888-1904.

How many you want to pull up? I have a fenceline with your name on it. I won't even charge you anything, just roll up wire

Bob Johnson was my grandpa, he only used cedar.

I was under impression that green hedge was from posts that had been in a particular soil type for many years?

The wood I have seen was beautiful

If your wanting knife handle material I have a block from a slave hued post that was once part of a pig pen. It's gorgeous but this left over is too split to make calls from. It's hard as Chinese algebra too!!!

Have to look in my green hedge stash. What size would you need minimum?
