    Blast from the past

On a private FB group I'm a member of I posted a pic of me in my first baseball uni. I stated my first year playing organized baseball coincided with the first year of the Astros via the Colt 45s.

One guy posted and this conversation took place. Read his remark under the pic in the screen shot of the thread The actual team pic is attached also. I have had other "blasts from the past" also. Really can be a very small world.

Man what a motley crew. What would our lives be like if we didn't have the wonderful opportunity to play organized sports. This brings back memories of my Salvation Army days. Good times!

I remember those Little League uniforms of that era felt like they were made of wool

Glad to share and glad y'all enjoyed looking at it.

Not sure what those unis were made of but I do remember they weren't the most comfortable things to wear.

Great stuff Bill! I have a team picture from my first team when I was in 3rd grade. (1964) It was a YMCA league and our uniforms consisted of blue jeans and a T-shirt with team names. In the pic we are all wearing Converse high tops, PF Flyers or Jack Purcell BlueTips. (remember those?) I remember we played on a lumpy field that had no outfield fence. As an outfielder who often did not pay close enough attention to the game, I often had a ball go over my head and I had to chase it until it stopped rolling.

Good memory John. I remember being that outfielder too.

Brings back memories Bill. I have my team picture as well and still have my first glove....a "Nellie Fox" model most likely purchased from Sears as that is where my Dad worked. Thanks for the blast from the past....brings back a flood of memories!

Wish I knew what happened to that glove Larry. With two brothers not much telling.

Haven't heard anyone mention "Nellie Fox" in years.
