i purchased a pair of Irish Setters for an elk hunt and couldn't be happier with them. The price was around $100 waterproof and lightweight only 2.8 lbs I have only had them about 6 months but so far all is good,

I'm a lot like 76aggie. I like my llbean boots but I like the ones they make in Maine. I'm sure their import stuff is good too just really like that I know who the person is that stitched mine together, you get a card with the persons name. Also their warranty is second to none. I bought a pair of 12" boots in size 11 thinking that was my size. Tried them for over a year, rain, snow, mountain hunting. Never could get the fit. I took them to an llbean store and the only thing the guy asked me was would I like them to restitch a size 10 sole on since my leathers were good and broken in. I opted to have a new pair of boots. No issues at all. New pair was on my doorstep in a couple days.
These are mine drying by the fire on saturday

Another vote for Schnee's. I did tons of research before buying the granites and they have been great. I've had them for 2 years now and they are super comfortable. They are waterproof and still allow your feet to breathe. I've had around 90lbs in my pack in the backcountry and they still are comfortable. I liked them enough to buy the insulated granites for my later hunts. A buddy of mine wears them as well and loves his. I'd order 2 sizes and wear them around the house to see how they feel. Their customer service is awesome too. Give them a shout and they will answer any questions. You won't be disappointed.

Meindl, Crispi, Asolo, Schnees are all good mountain boots. You need the proper support or your ankles and feet will kill you. Bean boots are great but not for mountain hunting.
Russell Moccasin Co will make some great boots to your foot measurements.
Best advice is above, buy European made mountain boots.

Thanks again for all the input guys, lots of great suggestions.
I never knew there was so many good boot companies.
Lived and guided in CO and NM for years wearing lots of different boots. I'm a big Meindl fan. You'll be pleased. The Cabelas Denali is a great buy if anyone is looking. Compares to Scarpa, La Sportiva, Schnees, etc....for $100 less.
