Moonshine is good,
East Side Cafe (not downtown, Manor Rd. near UT),
La Traviata (Congress/4th st)
Vespaio (S Congress/Milton st), Continental Club across the street (kinda touristy these days, but an ok spot)
Perlas (s Congress near Vespaio)
Austin Land & Cattle (N Lamar/12th) kinda downtown

If you don't mind jazz, Elephant room typically has a more mellow crowd, on Congress across from la traviata
