I was thinking today about the fact that Irma is packing sustained winds of 185 miles per hour.
So, getting out my slide rule and checking the rhythm on my logs, I calculate as follows: 5,280 feet in a mile; 185 miles times 5,280 feet equals 976,800 feet per hour; divide that by 60 to get 16,280 feet per minute; divide that by another 60 to get 271.33 feet per second.
Now my Switchback XT is not the fastest bow in the world. It probably shoots around 265 feet per second (I've never chrono'd it). However, that bow will send an arrow right through a deer.
So, think about those winds of Irma at 271.33 feet per second . . .
Prayers for those in her path.
