Went last weekend and stuck a hog at first light. Haven’t seen a lot of movement during the day with it so warm. And I don’t have anything on camera that I’m crazy about. I hope I can make another trip before rifle season.

Looks like next time I head out will be youth weekend, hopefully I'll get in a few more hunts before rifle season starts. I wish it would cool off!!

My Dads on his 26th year @ a lease in Callahan county, its about 15 miles west of cross plains off highway 36

Been a great place all these years, I hunted there as a kid and try to get out there with my Dad at least once a year, I literally have memories of killing animals on almost every portion of the place, there mainly rifle hunters so they will start ground chking them opening weekend of rifle, I'll post pics

I shot a 135" 8pt off it 2 years ago and one of the lease members shot a 154" 10 pt off it 2 years ago as well

It's my Dad and 3 buddies who hunt it and they have one maybe 2 corn feeders going each year, not a single enclosed blind, they mainly just sit under a live oak in a lawn chair and watch the mesquite flats/rattle

I always give my Dad a hard time about needing to set up tree stands and protein feeders etc and honestly they kill studs every year with little to no work involved, kinda enjoy the simplicity myself every once in awhile

It's a dang good area that I think is looked over sometimes for big deer

It's by far the best area I've ever hunted for rattling, it's prolly nothing to south texas but I can remember as a kid rattling in a dozen bucks of a morning numerous times

I agree 100%...there are pockets of exceptional genetics in this area!
