    Budget Thermal, Pulsar Core RXQ30

Just wanted to give a little review for the guys that are looking into thermals. But, do not want to spend the $4000+ for a higher end thermal.

Price point on this thermal is 1899.97.

I have about 10 or so hunts behind the Rxq30 core. I believe I have a good feel for this unit to leave a review.

First thought for me was did not know if I would like the green screen. As the night went on I come to love it. It really relaxes your eyes, the transition from scope to looking with your eyes seems easier. There is a plus in itself, so for the guys not sure about the green tinted screen I ended up loving it.

Secondly, this is a compact light unit. Once you start adding 30 rounds, suppressor, and a thermal weight plays a significant issue. I hunted with it on a full size 16" barrel and also on a SBR. Loved the combination of this unit and the SBR, because of weight and its size.

Being that it is at the sub $2000 price point, this unit does not have all the features that the big units have. Basically the core 30 and the trail 30 picture wise, and magnification are the same except the core doesnt have the wifi, battery pack, and recording capabilities. Pulsar did throw in a battery adapter, to where you can add an external battery pack. It comes with a QD mount so you can use it as a monocular or a dedicated scope.

I could go on and on, but for the money this unit is a must have. Not having the highest magnification, I would say 200 yards and in is about it for this unit. Some may get more out of it, but no need as my shots are mostly 100 yards and in.

Just wanted to give a real world review on the thermal for the guys contemplating a thermal unit. Any questions just let me know and I can try and answer.

Good review. I love mine. This scope may have an entry-level price, but it has features even the best thermal weapon sights don't offer. The one-shot zero makes getting on target incredibly easy. The picture-in-picture feature allows a small portion of the screen to be fully zoomed in, while the rest of the screen is zoomed out. This allows perfect shot placement and peripheral vision at the same time. The scope also the ability to save 3 different zeroing profiles, which means you can use it on 3 different guns. Pulsar hit it out of the park with the RXQ30V.

Does anyone know how this unit compares to the new flir thermosight pro line of thermal scopes? Looks like they hit the market in August of 2017, and at a price point of 2k

Ask @outdoorlegacygear, because he has a direct line to both manufacturers. I ordered a PTS233 from them. FLIR hit a snag with the video recording and the shipments are delayed for now. The few people I know who've looked through both say the 384-core of the Pulsar gives it the edge over the Flir (which is 320)—even though the Flir has a 12 micron pixel size instead of the Pulsar's 17—but that it's very close and the Flir is still awesome, plus it (hopefully) records. But it will never have audio.

Got mine yesterday. 4 shots at 100... dead on. I'd been using a borrowed flir for past 3 years that was in the $4k range. Was very worried about image quality on this unit for the price. WOW this unit blows it away. Not even close. Took it last night and sat on a cat walk

15 deer- from 100-250 yards. All easily identified and could see horns at 200 until about 7:00 then they cooled enough was my guess. Never could see horns with flir
              2 coyotes-from 60-300 yards also easily identifiable
1 skunk at 150- took me 2-3 min to tell if skunk or coon
15 hogs first spotted at 250ish, stalked to 60, killed 2 dead, 3 more left leaking

There are no doubt better... but for my needs not at this price

Oh, didn't think I would like the green, but wouldn't do without it now. Love it. Way easier on eyes
