Stinking cheaters...took us until 1990 to win it
I remember that 1990 season very well. My Dad was MHS class of '65. I was Cy Creek class of '93. We travelled to Irving to watch his Mavs curb stomp my Cougars in Texas Stadium. Our DT, Sam Adams scored our only td. He went on to have a nice NFL career. If I remember right, Marshall went on to beat Carter the next week and then Judson in the championship game.

Flashbacks...
I went to Duncanville High School and graduated in 1991. The Fall of 88, I was a sophomore and I remember that Dallas Carter and Dallas Kimball were placed in our district. You also had Desoto and South Grand Prairie and Grand Prairie, a tough 6 team district. Duncanville had won district in both 86 and 87 but drew tough first round matchup in the playoffs each season and we were one and done.
The 88 season was suppose to be our year, loaded with returning letterman and Coach Gandy was in his 6th season and had his program in place. I was just a sophomore team player but we would participate in the prep each week and a few of us got it be on the sidelines. That night in October, I was one of those guys. I don't know if the documentary mentions our game with Carter. We were the one blemish on the record of Carter, a 24 - 24 tie. Our kicker missed a PAT but we got a 2 point conversion later in the game. We were declared winners via the penetration rule, if anybody remembers that.
I remember Carter was extremely talented but lacked overall discipline. Carter had Robert Hall at QB, Armstead of course and many other great players. I knew that they were good and most likely we could see them again in the playoffs. However, we drew Plano in the first round and lost 38 - 33, funny thing is we beat them in the regular season.
Carter went on to have its run, Coach Gandy got sideways with the AD and went back to San Angelo and Duncanville football went into the crapper with his replacement. We went 4 - 6 my senior season and 1 - 9 the next year.
I always sometimes wish that Duncanville would have lost the tie game because we would have drawn a different opponent. Also, the kids at South Grand Prairie got a raw deal as well. They were the 3rd place team and would have gone instead of Carter.
I will try to watch the documentary but I lived it in real life, lol...
