I have an LL Bean that I adore but rarely does it get cold enough to need it around here even when sitting in a tree.

I was dead set on buying a Filson. I stopped into their store when I was in Seattle to get an idea of what size/style etc... They were extremely nice coats and well worth the price IMO but just not suitable for Texas climate. This is purely an opinion. But if I was going to buy one it would be a filson hands down.

I had bought a woolrich many years ago in Alaska for a moose hunt , it saw better days years ago, it is just hard to shop online and Texas stores just don't have stuff to tr

I found a great Woolrich on Ebay, sure it's old but that doesn't bother me at all- I sometimes think about the camping and hunting that jacket may have been on. Legendary Whitetails has an affordable hunters jacket in wool also:

Probably not what you're looking for, but the wooltimate stuff from Cabelas is great.

The Filson Mackinaw is nice. The "Double Mac", however, is wayyy too much coat for Texas and you'll burn up.

Neither have a liner, and therefore, ARE gonna limit your range of motion bowhunting.

I have one of these in olive drab, near new condition. Ill make you a heck of a deal on. I put it on in 85 degree weather and was able to keep it for about 10 seconds before I peeled it off. I got it on trade from a guy that runs a tactical training business in Birmingham and it was sent to him as a factory sample.

Cabela's gets my vote. The bargin cave has some good deals at times. If you hunt in the upper Midwest or Canada wool is the ticket but a bit over kill here in South Texas.

This. Used to be a company called Sleeping Indian that made some great stuff as well
