It's real but it's not mine. I think its a corn belt deer. Saw it fb.
I did kill a deer at quail tx off of peanut fields that was dang near that fat. I'll try to find some old pictures but he had about an 1.5" thick layer of fat all the way around his body. He was crazy heavy too.

Very slow and very warm!

I took my middle boy up for Opening Day of the general season.
Friday afternoon we worked around the farm house, filled feeders, pulled the camera card and spent some campfire time.

Opening morning was foggy, zero visibility.
I don’t have a rifle blind.
We opted to sit on the ground in the saddle of a hill about 100 yards from the feed pen.
By the time the fog lifted, we’d missed all the action.

Highlight of the morning hunt was listening to an awesome buck fight in the fog.
He talked about the fight all weekend.

We met the grandparents for lunch.
Grandma and the boy took off to spend some quality time and take some pictures.







Saturday evening, we were back in the saddle of the hill.
6:30, the boy got his chance.
He made a great shot, the .243 broke both shoulders.







Got a couple mule deer does on camera.
Hope they stick around.



And this dude is still run amuck in the pen.
Hope I catch up with him soon.



Friends, it was a great weekend.

That's a GREAT weekend!

How is it looking for you guys? I'm northeast of Turkey, north of 86. I went in early October for bow season but didn't see much. I think the warm weather and excellent range conditions were most likely why, but curious if others in the area are seeing activity pick up.

We are starting to see bachelor groups break up with younger bucks starting to run does. Also noticed the 4 year old deer are start to range a little bit which usually means pre rut is getting going.

Any idea what your sons deer scored. We have one that looks almost exactly the same. Had to double check it wasn't.
