Permethrin. buy it at Tractor Supply and mix it in a spray bottle to a 10% mix and spray it on your clothes and let it dry. Do not spray it on yourself.

Deep Woods Off...$6+/- ...works for me and I'm allergic BIG time to chiggers! I also carry, besides the Epi Pen, this prescription crème that takes care of the intense itching and swelling within 24 hours and many times within 30 minutes initially, (I have to repeat when the symptoms start up again): Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream...0.1%. If you react to ANY insect sting/bite like I do, ask your physician and BEG him/her to prescribe this...WORKS GREAT if the DEET does not keep you safe.

One more suggestion to IMMEDIATELY get relief from bites, other than chiggers...MITIGATOR Sting & Bite. Only place I can find it is on Amazon but my military son has it issued to him, at least in his branch. Even with a blasted mosquito bite, rub it in as soon as you know they found you and within a few minutes the itching/pain stops. Then I follow it up with the RX crème and gone. Trust me, insects love to get me and these two products work GREAT!! Oh, the Epi Pen is for bee or wasps stings, not chiggers or mosquitos. I've spent most of my life in the country and until recently, several bee stings, never needed the Epi Pen until a serious reaction. My physician prescribed it after my right ear swelled up from a bee sting that I looked deformed. He said there is no reason or evidence you build up immunity from repeated bee stings....some are ok, but repeated exposure does not build immunity from their venom. "Kill 'em all and let God sort it out!"

Know what u mean. I never got poison ivy rash growing up I could run through it pull it etc.
Now since I'm in 60's now I still work on landscapes and the last few times I've pulled a very small vine out for someone I've caught it. Sucks getting old

Another vote for Deep Woods Off.

On the boot, around the bare knee, bare belt line, and bare upper arms.

                  This.

Sawyer makes great stuff. One is to treat your clothes (lasts about 2 weeks and up to like 6 washes).

And one is to spray on yourself. This stuff is specifically for ticks and chiggers
