Help finding accident info

A good friend of mine moved to east Texas (Longview/Tyler area) a few years ago. We haven't talked much since his move as life sometimes gets in the way. My wife was facebook friends with him (I got off that crap years ago) and she found out yesterday that he was killed in a motorcycle accident in east Texas somewhere on Saturday. His name was Adam Roberts and I haven't been able to find anything online like an accident report, news article or anything. Any suggestions about how to find out anything other than waiting on his family to post service details?

Please, save the comments about the dangers of motorcycles, I don't need to hear that right now. But unfortunately, I know some people just can't keep their traps shut.

There was guy killed on HWY 110 south of Whitehouse Friday morning on a motorcycle. It's on KLTV.com

Depending on what jurisdiction the crash happened in, you might try the local PD, sheriff's office, or DPS. They can possibly tell you something. Sorry for your loss.

Accident reports are public records. You can get a copy from the investigating agency. Which agency investigated may take some sleuthing. Check with the local pd where the accident occurred. If they don't have it, check with the county sheriff. If they don't have it check with DPS.

No on the middle name. Age is about 49-51 (can't remember for sure). I'm not even sure where the accident occurred. I'm sure I'll find out more once funeral arrangements are made and posted. I was just curious how or what happened more than anything.

Update: Adam had just left a family reunion in Mesquite. He was at I20 and Lawson road when the car he was following swerved to miss a 4x4 piece of lumber laying on the highway. He either hit it or swerved to try and miss it (no one knows for sure), lost control and crashed. We attended his "Celebration of Life" service yesterday in Hallsville.

Personal note: A good man lost his life because someone failed to secure their load before going down the highway. I see it all the time myself. Please make sure you (or anyone) strap down your load before taking off. I know things happen beyond our control occasionally, but try your best to not be THAT person that causes another to lose their life needlessly because of your lack of attention. Rant over. Thanks to those that tried to help me find out how this happened.
