Willow cat, at least that is what my grandpa and others called em in east Texas. Not a channel cat. They clipped the tails to bleed em when cleaning.

Mud cat all day long. Channel cats aren't that yellow.

Hard to say that's anything but a channel, that forked tail is a dead give away. Not all channels have pronounced spots or the classic grey blue coloration.

Last pic shows a female channel cat 1000%. Leaves no doubt!
Yellow bullhead is that color but so are some big channels depending on body of water where caught. Males will mostly be dark bluish or almost black during spawn. Caught a bunch of big females that look exactly like that out of Lake Kiowa at my brother's place.

This, coloration depends on their surroundings. The Channel cats I catch out of the Colorado are a different color than the Channel cats I catch out of my pond.

Color doesn't matter. Habitat and surrounding have a lot to do with color. But there isn't a mudcat in the water that has a forked tail.

Channel. Funny some are still sticking with mudcat after seeing the forked tale.

                            That's a channel cat...minus the spots.

The tail looks forked but it is relaxed making it look forked. Definitely mudcat.

I thought it was a channel before seeing the tail, fry that rascal.
