I say recluse because it doesn't look like a house spider or fisher spider with the fiddle Looking shape. However, the color doesn't look that much like a recluse.

I was just going off the grout line being 1/2".
He's comparable in size to images on a quarter ? Lost me again .
You say 2.5 and then say his size is comparable to .75...?

If the grout line is 1/2" the thorax of that spider is 1" that would be a huge brown recluse!
