    Tree ID

Can someone tell me what kind of tree this is? It has very soft wood, bleeds white stuff when cut, and sheds it's bark every year. I'm just wondering how hardy it is. Pics are of bark on trunk and branches after trimming a few.

Thank you Sir. Seems like a decent tree to have around. Nice to see that it is native.

If it has thorns on its branches it is the gum bumelia---I hunted 2 different places near Wimberley and had one at each place. The odd bark is what caught my attention--

X2 Some get fairly large and are sometime mistaken for liveoaks (if you don't look closer and see the thorns and the fuzzy leaves)

There are other species of bumelia , and many will only develop into a small bush.
