Quicker back in the water, especially under working birds or in slicks popping in skinny water... at the end of the run, the gulp fisherman very often will have more fish on the stringer or in the ice chest. The slogan "outfishes live bait" is fact... not always that the fish bites it better, but it sure catches better when they do bite it and it's more efficient, so yea, you can beat shrimp under a cork using gulp under a cork.Last edited by panhandlehunter; 08-03-2017, 07:03 PM.

I used to be a Gulp guy but don't use them anymore. Better options are out there.
I don't use gulp much anymore either... Quit using it for the same reason mainly I don't like using live bait... trash fish/hardheads and such... Generally seldom use popping corks for the same reasons as hardheads will hit even good plastics if they're suspended under a popping cork and not fished aggresively... Sometimes though, a popping cork is what gets the job done so I keep 'em handy...

Im just now headed to bed we fished from midnight to 230. I actually bought some doa and vudu shrimp tonight after seeing this thread. Haven't used then in forever. Caught one speck on doa. Was slow on fake shrimp. Switched to tandem rigs I always use and caught quite a few. Grinded out my limit with most catches undersized and managed to get one keeper red...we catch trout ever weekend we fish but reds every other trip or 3rd trip and usually only one or two. I I'm always excited when I land one. Haven't learned how to catch then consistently yet after years of trying. Good luck this weekend. If I wake up I'll be on water at sunrise.
