H&H popping corks work. I wanted to get the mid coast but my academy didn't have them.

Gulp or Chicken boy under a popping cork. I like bomber popping corks personally (loud and cupped at the top for a lot of splash), but a lot of good ones out there.

Absolutely untrue. Seen it happen time and time again... Seen gulp under a cork right beside live shrimp... yes, the trout will hit both, but that gulp will withstand multiple hits from trout and non game fish hits. catch multiple trout on one gulp shrimp... Quicker back in the water, especially under working birds or in slicks popping in skinny water... at the end of the run, the gulp fisherman very often will have more fish on the stringer or in the ice chest. The slogan "outfishes live bait" is fact... not always that the fish bites it better, but it sure catches better when they do bite it and it's more efficient, so yea, you can beat shrimp under a cork using gulp under a cork.

When the fish are hitting, it doesn't matter what you throw. When it's tough, the live shrimp is going to catch fish. I know it's possible to outfish somebody using live shrimp, I just did it Tuesday. Day in and day out though more fish hit the cleaning table with live shrimp. I used to be a Gulp guy but don't use them anymore. Better options are out there.

Academy was out of a few things I wanted to try so this will have to do for tomorrow! Hope the rain stays away from us!!

Everyone else will be fishing with live shrimp. I will try these on mine only.

Your clarification redirect post is a little more realistic, but your generalist "impossible to beat live shrimp" just flat ain't true.

I don't use gulp much anymore either... Quit using it for the same reason mainly I don't like using live bait... trash fish/hardheads and such... Generally seldom use popping corks for the same reasons as hardheads will hit even good plastics if they're suspended under a popping cork and not fished aggresively... Sometimes though, a popping cork is what gets the job done so I keep 'em handy...

Oh yeah. You'll always find a spinning reel with a popping cork and DOA shrimp on my boat or in my truck in the surf. Sometimes that's what it takes.

We caught a few things on some Gulp Peeler Crabs here in Gulf Shores this week. It wouldn't be my first choice, but it worked after we ran out of live shrimp. We were desperate to get a few more casts in before racking the kayaks and heading to the outlet mall with the wives.

Im just now headed to bed we fished from midnight to 230. I actually bought some doa and vudu shrimp tonight after seeing this thread. Haven't used then in forever. Caught one speck on doa. Was slow on fake shrimp. Switched to tandem rigs I always use and caught quite a few. Grinded out my limit with most catches undersized and managed to get one keeper red...we catch trout ever weekend we fish but reds every other trip or 3rd trip and usually only one or two. I I'm always excited when I land one. Haven't learned how to catch then consistently yet after years of trying. Good luck this weekend. If I wake up I'll be on water at sunrise.

I plan on being in my boat and in the water (surfside,tx) around noon today.
Going to start with some gulp under a cajun thunder cork .....and then head to a deep hole for some sharks.
