Cell Phone Contracts - Moving to an area with no coverage

Has anyone ever dealt with something like this? Can you get out of the contract if you move somewhere in the US where they provide zero service?

I had This happen to me moved to a location and got Verizon because they were the only company that worked in that county. I changed duty stations two counties over and Verizon had no coverage at all. I switched to AT&T but verizon would not let me out of the contract because they did not advertise service in that area. They said if it was just bad service they could've waved the fees. I called probably 6-7 times before I talked to someone that finally waved the fees.

No service at all. Have to drive 30-40 mins in any direction to get any service. Also Verizon.
