    Inspired By Deerhunter30

On Friday after reading and going over to DH30's house and hearing the story of him shooting his 10pt with Recurve and Cedar it inspired me. I have a longbow that was handed down to me from my Paps (78yr old grandgather), which was inturn handed down to him when he was around 20yrs old. He said it was made around 1918-1920. A few years ago I had Rick Erdman, Custom Bowyer of Sweptwing Custom Recurves make me a flemish twist string for it. With a 7.5" brace height it pulls 40lbs at 28".

My wife's aunt told me at church in Feb. that she had my wife's grandfather's custom made longbow and some custom made arrows that were made in the mid 1950's-early '60's. I picked up that bow that afternoon and to my dismay it had cracked limbs due to being left strung over many years, but the arrow were really awesome and cedar to boot! There were raw cedar shafts in the tube too. The ones that were crested and painted just needed new feathers. I gave the rest of the cedar shafts hoping they were spined correctly for DH30 to use.

So I combined my prized posessions, the 1918 Longbow and the Cedar Shafts. I did some refletching, which I havent fletched in 2.5yrs, and I am ready. My shots are going to be limited to 10yrds or closer. This combo produces a really slow, heavy arrow, but all I can hear when I release is the string slipping off the fingers! Second weekend in Nov. I hope to get to use it!
