    Electric pole saw recommendations???

I am in need of one in a hurry. Is the Ryobi at Home Depot any good? Looks like they have pretty good reviews, my old hand pole saw have seen its better days and I need to trim several larger limbs to get a dump truck through on Weds.

If you know of a good one for the price somewhere else let me know.

I bought a Kolbalt 40v pole saw. It's been awesome and now my gas ryobi pole saw attachment sits in the shed. The battery will outlast me. 2 trailer loads of limbs up to 8" and battery was still over half charged.

It lasts longer than I can cut.

My dad bought one and uses the crap out of it.
Brags on it all of the time.

Yep. My dad bought one a couple months ago and I used it this past weekend cutting mesquite and cedar all day at the lease. Thank god for that thing, cuts with ease and ran all day long. Made short work of removing trees and shrubs

I've been running a 40V GreenWorks for 4 years. Never let me down. They have an 80V now. But I know nothing about it.

I just got the Ryobi 18 volt, because I got 4 batteries already. Works great. Battery life not too bad. Used 2 batteries and cut for about 3 hours.

I have had one for four years and it is still going strong.

Reviews are all right, Ryobi 18V will cut longer than you care to pick up. I've cut through bigger than 8" branches and it chugged away. Other saws may be just as good or better but 18v battery is common to other tools we have.

The only negative comment I have is the actual pole could be stiffer and have ability to add another extension. Yea, I couldn't think of another way to say that, oh well.

Based on the Ryobi tools I've used (mostly weedeaters), I would guess that 'Ryobi' is a Chinese word for 'disposable'.
As for pole saws, I borrow my dad's electric pole saw occasionally (I forget what brand) and I would say that if/when I ever buy a pole saw, it will be gas powered. The limitation of how far away from an outlet I can work and having to not get the cord tangled, etc. . .
                          Go gas and be happier.

Dad had a bunch of coupons to Harbor Freight and got a $150 Lynxx 40V Lithium saw dirt cheap and its been a beast the 2 years he's owned it! I've borrowed it a few times to trim around the house and look up and have 2-3 16' trailers full of limbs to haul to the burnpile and it's still going on the same battery! I might look at the chainsaw for brushpile building next time I'm in the market! Being sneaky at the lake with a chainsaw isn't possible and the sawzall isn't fast as I like!

I agree with others, Kobalt 40V works great and unless I need something bigger I use it for anything and everything I can.
