If you don't want to cry, don't read this

Saw this on Facebook this morning. Tough read. Not much makes me tear up being "young and tough" but this had a few rolling. Not sure if you'll be able to click the link but copy and paste it if need be.

    Texas Monthly

Urban Texans tend to think cowboying is a vanishing way of life, but everyone who knew Cody Crockett said he was born to be a cowboy.

When the largest individual Plains fire documented in the modern era broke out, Cody did what all cowboys know to do: he headed into the flames to save the cattle, along with his girlfriend, Sydney Wallace, and rancher Sloan Everett.

This is their story: a tale of love and loss on the Panhandle plains. http://txmnth.ly/2tPROds

My wife is friends of Sydneys parents and knew her as a child.

Very remarkable story. Such a tragedy.

Sad sad deal :-(. If I remember correctly, there were several on the greenscreen that knew them.

Is this the current issue of TM? I'd rather buy the print version.

I read this earlier today. Very well written tribute. It definitely got a little dusty up around here while reading it.

Knew I should have waited to read this at the house.

One of the best tributes I've read. Just finished it (saw it on FB) right before I got on here. They were good people who will be dearly missed.
