    521 locator?

Anyone ever use one of these? I'm going to rent one to find my sprinkler valves.

I tried a metal detector. Either there is a whole lot of roofing nails and crap around my house or I'm sittin on Black Beards treasure. This follows the current running through the wires to the valves.

Lol sounds about right with construction trash. Most of the trash is iron and depending on your detector will have a grunt sound to the tone. The valve should have copper or brass which will be a higher crisp tone. And if the detector had a depth gage is should be around 4-6" deep depending on how high you are swinging the coil.

That thing will also find a break in the wires if there is one. You may did down at the "end" of the signal, and find not the valve, but a broken wire. Same outcome though... fix the wire and perhaps your valve will start to work... Only time I used one was to locate a broken wire on one of our scoreboards at our ball field one time... Located it and dug right to it, used an epoxy splice and fixed it right up... easy peasy, and MUCH less expensive than running a whole new wire!!

One of the valves is stuck open. That section of the system will not turn off even if I disconnect the wire at the timer.
