Maybe moving back to Polk County

Well between the extremely rapid growth and the quickly changing demographics around us, we are seriously considering moving a little further north. We would love to head up to the 100 acres in Laneville that was left to my wife but we have decided to wait until the kids are out of school. We are going to look at a pretty new house on 4 acres on the north side of Goodrich today. It is very secluded, on a big hill, has 1000ft of creek on back boundary, and the closest house is .25 mile away. If it is what we think it is, we will have our house in New Caney on the market in a few days. My new job I start in a few weeks would be a 35 min drive and my wife's commute would only be 20 mins to Cleveland ISD. The drive to our church would only be 30 mins. If anyone is looking near New Caney, there should be a HAR.com listing coming shortly. Nice 3/2 with 2 car garage connected with nice covered patio. Home is on 2 acres with tons of beautiful mature hardwoods. It is surrounded on 3 sides with 3 board white vinyl fence and has 1/2 acre cross fenced for animals. Home has a 4" well and 20kw back up generator system. Wood (laminate) floors throughout with tile in bathrooms. Kitchen has granite and all stainless appliances. The master is huge with a 5'x5' shower. The house was built in December 2010. Everyone on our street has 2-4 acres. I think we are gonna list it at 218k. I dread moving but am excited about getting back closer to the pineywoods and away from the rat race down here.

We are right behind or ahead of you! Moving to either Shepherd or Livingston and my wife starts with Cleveland ISD in a couple of weeks. Is the place your looking at in Goodrich ISD? Just curious as it wouldn't be on my list of school districts but sounds like your wife is in education also so I guess they can go wherever she teaches.

We have been looking in the Shepherd and Goodrich areas. My parents live in Livingston but that's just a hair farther out than we want to drive from. Goodrich ISD is a little 1A Country school with around 250 total students. We probably won't send them there but still need to do our homework. They can go to Cleveland where she will be teaching or Livingston is only about 10 mins away and I believe it is an open district. San Jacinto County or Polk County taxes beat the heck out of this tax situation in Montgomery County.

Well we decided against the first house on the creek with 4 acrea. We loved the seclusion and the property but the house needed too much for what they were asking and I would have had to build a shop/garage immediately. We actually found a lot nicer house on 2 acres in the same neighborhood that we will be putting an offer on today. I hope all goes well and we can get back up that way. Hopefully our house will hit the market tomorrow.

Well our house hit the market Wednesday evening and we had our first showing last night. It was late when they left so no feedback yet. The people that own the house near Livingston accepted our offer contingent on the sale of ours so now this one needs to sell. We were in a hurry to get it listed to make the offer so the pics arent very good. Hopefully we can get a photographer out here next week.
