Geologist in Corpus? You are going to have to move or take a job outside of your field. My nephew just graduated with that degree and he is looking all over the country. Those jobs are few and far between. Good luck!

I understand that some think I'm nuts looking in Corpus but there are geologist here who do well. The reason I don't want to mud log is because it won't provide the right source of income I need to sustain my family. I'm the one working and my wife takes care of our kiddos. Daycare would eat her check and someone else would raise our kids.. not cool with me..

I graduated back in December with my master's and have been looking for work since.
Recently I decided to apply for field geology/ well site geosteering positions. I had 7 interviews in 2 weeks and got multiple offers. It's not my ideal job by far, and I'm really hoping it leads to something a little more desirable in the near future, but I've gotta get some experience and the Permain is THE place to be right now.
Even at this price point the Permian and SCOOP/STACK are profitable. The way I see it, there are tons of companies looking for permian experience. Hopefully when things turn around next year I'll be in a good position to land something where my experience sets me apart.

Sweet! I will be headed that way then. Robert you want to meet up for lunch on the 9th while I'm in town job hunting? I have been looking for well site gigs also but am needing the benefits for my family. All I've found are contractor positions. Thank you stxhunter for the notice also!!
