No such thing as a pet raccoon, IMO.

I've had two that made good pets. One would climb up my pants leg and ride around on my shoulder.

Had one as a kid... It got mean and my dad "took him for a walk"... Ain't no way I'd have one anywhere near my house, and especially on the inside! My neighbor in Kingwood had a whole family get into their home while they were gone on vacation... $40,000 in damages to the house!!! They tore up everything, and having come down the chimney, they also left black soot all over the white furniture and carpet... NO THANK YOU!

            I'm in the KAC court!

I would have clubbed them all in a heart beat.

The odds of finding one that is not destructive is about the same as finding a fan that thinks the Rangers have a great team this year. Of course there will always be at least one.

Really really fun until about 20 lbs... up to 10 pounds AWESOME pet... if its a boar you get less time

Feed it kitten replacement milk for now.

Also look up the book "Rascal" and read it with daughter. About raising a coon.

Basically your GOING to realease it at full grown...

Had several with different results, males NO WAY. Females still a crap shoot but can be a blast to have around. My last one didn't make it past the age of 6 months and we had a bloody parting of the ways.

My next door neighbor raised one when I was a kid. Great pet, would wrestle with the dogs and followed us around like a dog would. One day it got hold of her wedding ring and ran under the bed. They tried and tried coaxing it out, finally it ran out of the house and into the big cottonwood tree in their back yard with the ring. They never found her ring. I think they had to finally set it free in the woods.

Get him a slinky to play with so he'll be prepared to steal corn as he gets older.

I had a female once, was a really cool critter to play with. if you layed down she would climb onto your chest and lay down and just stare at you. we would let her outside and she would mess around in the flower beds and explore everything, after about an hour she would go back into the garage to her bed. we had her about 8 months and one day when we let her out she wandered off into a cornfield; go figure , and we never saw her again.

Well, I can tell you if that would have been MY cornfield, there's a good reason you never saw her again!

I'm not in Gonzales and this year's the first time I had corn in many years, but it's almost a certain bad ending for a coon in my wife's garden...
