Found this at the beach, what is it??

We found this at the beach in Destin last week. I have no idea what it is looks like a shell or maybe some decorative jewelry? I have looked online at shells and can't find anything like it. It appears like it would open but have not tried to pry it. Any ideas ? It was in the water when found.

I've found a bunch of those a long time ago. Seems like someone told me it was a type of of seed, or something along those lines. In for the answer.

        EDIT: Google "sea bean"

It's the button shot of Wynona Judd's blue jeans from a concert in Dallas, Texas in 1997. NASA thinks it might have reached terminal velocity somewhere around Madisonville.

                              Ok I laughed a little.

I hope I find one in 35 days because that's when I get to Destin.
