    Power Surge Electrical question

At our lease camp house we always turn off all the breakers when we leave. If there is a power surge or lightning strike, will it still go through the plugs? The reason I ask is because I had left my video camera charger plugged in and also a spot light charger. The camera charger didn't work, but I just blew it off. Then Tyler told me that the spot light charger that he had left plugged in was on the floor in 2 pieces, thats what got me to wondering.

The breaker only opens the hot conductor from the panel. The neutral and ground are still connected.

Yes, it will still go through the plugs, maybe not a regular power surge (unless it was some sort of cross phase short), but a lightning strike will for sure.

Friend had 2 large fish tanks. Fresh and salt water. Lightning hit a pole 50 yards from their house and fried every circuit in the house and even killed the fish in the tanks. Lightning sucks....

Lightning is bad stuff. This is a home I worked on a few weeks ago after a strike.
