    Cost to Sharpen Chainsaw

Until this year, I've always borrowed my dad's chainsaw. I have my own now and needed to sharpen the blade. I wanted an extra blade anyway, so I bought one and have the original ready to be sharpened.
I was surprised that a new blade was only $22-$25.
What kind of price should I expect to pay to get the dull one (30" chainsaw) sharpened?
Any suggestions on where in the Tarrant/Parker County area?

Note: Yes, I know it isn't brain surgery to sharpen the blade myself. But I have neither the time nor inclination to do so. I do not use the chainsaw all that much, and don't need to add 'blade sharpening' to my list of hobbies.

BTW, you might (or might not) be surprised as how well a chainsaw can disperse the oil from poison ivy.

Most True Value stores will take a saw blade, knife, etc, mail it out, and have it back in a week or so. You would be surprised how easy it is to sharpen a chainsaw blade; a kit is about $20, and is very simple.

$5-15. Harbor Freight has one you can get under $40. I have never had a problem with them.

Hand file and 10 mins. Be sure you hand sharpen properly though.

Chainsaws don't use blades. You need chains. Check out YouTube on how easy it is to sharpen a chain using a file and guide.

$8 at the hardware store near me. Or about 10 minutes with a sharpener

8.50 to sharpen a chain at my Stihl dealer. I just buy new ones most of the time. I used to sharpen them myself when I was cutting a bunch. Not worth the time now.

I can do one in about 5 minutes with a Dremel.

Local guy here gets $12 per chain.

Almost more trouble to take one off and put a new one on than to sharpen it.
