That's a house cat. But congratulations, you just went turned this from a Jaguarundi thread to a black panther thread without even meaning too. I'm getting the popcorn.

Yeah right. Next you'll tell me there's no such thing as black panthers and there isn't a mountain lion population on everyone's East Texas lease.

But but but but they smell the same. Don't ask how I know but I was only bout 10 or 11 years old at the time. Got my first bath with a jar of canned tomaters --------outside in a no2 washtub. And a follow up scrubbing with a whole box of baking soda and 2 or 3 nights sleeping on the back porch which was fun for me and my rat terrier.

In the 60's? I don't know if they are around or not but can we agree that there hasn't been a verifiable sighting since 1986? I mean verifiable, not "I know what I saw." Curious, can anyone think of another animal that multiple people claim to have recently seen but no independent evidence exists to confirm these sightings?

I know a very reasonable, intelligent person who swears they have seen the lechuza. When I was a kid I thought I saw the cucuy.

                      Two articles of note.

plan in place to establish a population of 500 Jaguarundi in Texas by 2050.

Read comments of the next article. For a species that conservationists want to grow to a whopping 500 by 2050, a ton of people claim to see them.

HB Length: 53-76 cm (21-30″) Tail Length: 31-52 cm (12-20″) Height: 25-30 cm (10-14″) Weight: 3-7 kg (6.6-15 lbs) Pop. Trend: Decreasing Jaguarundi Herpailurus yaguarondi are one …

Lake Fork, Lake Travis, Lake Belton etc.etc. They are everywhere.

I'm sure that some "confirmable" sightings are not reported due to the headaches for landowners that would follow. Any that get shot fall under the SSS rule.

Cool looking critters...look more like an otter than a cat.
