It's hard to believe that NTT tannery is that cheap, I have been paying $175 for an Axis at the Nugget Co. in San Antonio. It takes them about 6 mths so maybe a little faster but what a big price difference. I actually paid $200 last year at a local taxidermy shop.
Curious as to how they need to be shipped also?

A google search will lead you to their website, then just give Robert a call. He'll tell you what you need to know about shipping, etc.....

Guess I'm in the minority - I haven't had the best luck with NTT. My hides are tanned but not the quality I was hoping for. I've used Moyle Mink & Tannery several times and have always been happy.

Maybe its the type of tanning being done? Or the amount of breaking the leather after? I believe Moyle does a garment tan, so the leather is buttery soft.

I use North Texas as well. I have frozen the hides in a trash bag and shipped in a box UPS ground and had them reach NTT by 9am the very next day. This was done from Humble, north of Houston.

I just ran test shipment on UPS from here in the San Antonio area and it says it will get there by end of day tomorrow.

If I were sending one, I'd freeze and ship UPS ground for $25

1 beaver, several whitetail, a few axis, 2 red deer and one goat of some kind that my daughter shot.

                  No complaints

I think the only thing he does not do is woolly type sheep

yep. had lots of hides tanned. white tail and axis. also bought a couple of pillows. great work! only issue is the time it takes to get your hide back but for the price and quality the trade off is worth it to me.

yep. Same for me. I previously sent from south side of Houston (Clear Lake) and the always arrived the next day. The last hide I sent from Boerne and NTT tannery called before 10:00 the next day to tell me they had it. Ship frozen and ship before Wednesday. If shipped later I'm concerned about it getting stuck somewhere over the weekend. But, I've never had a problem with shipping. I get styrofoam containers from a local shipping company. Sometimes they give them to me and sometimes I've paid a small amount. I also dropped off at NTT once and picked up a couple of empty containers they had on hand.
