    Growing palm trees to sell.

I have a place that I need to make useful. It may be a good area to grow palm trees or something similar. Is there a market for such things? I like the idea because it's somewhat hands off. Anyone have helpful info?

Palm trees are big money. I'm not sure how difficult they are to grow.

Yeah they are big money and according to google not too terribly hard to grow. I'm just not sure how to get them out of the ground.

There's a hydraulic spade that used to extract trees for relocation that pulls the root ball and all. Expensive but works well w/almost zero manual labor.

            Here's one type.

High dollar on the coast, especially certain ones. They price them by the foot if I'm not mistaken. Slower they grow, the more they cost.

Lots of palm tree farms on the coast where I live. Don't know how much they cost but I see lots of farms growing them. Where's your property?

I buy trees and Palms from wholesalers/growers quite a bit. I can tell you it's a ton of upfront cost and it will be 5-7 years before you could even turn a profit. You would most likely grow them in containers and need to set up a support system and irrigation, including emitters and a weed-free pad to build everything on.

Bought 6 decent sized tree's from palms of paradise in winnie. Hand dug around them with sharp shooters and strapped and pulled up with a extend a boom forklift. Covered the root ball in a toll sack and layed on my trailer. We supported the live end with a saw horse so the top of the tree wasn't being damaged. Back then it was about 12k worth of tree's. So I would say it would be a really good investment if you have time. And I ask the guy about replacing what is sold and he is growing cuttings or seeds from his existing stock.

Put in a Christmas tree farm. It will be quite a few years before you harvest tho.

I'm ok with the wait. Here is another angle I'm looking at but need to research more. If I had a tree farm in south Texas then that might be a tax write off reason for each trip down.
