    Thermal Scopes?

Anyone hunting hogs with a thermal scope? If so, what are you using and what is the good or bad?

I've been looking at the IR Defense/IR Hunter, which appears to have been recently purchased by Trijicon. I'm also looking at ATN and is priced better.

Go to the other side of the fence section and search for thermal

Stay away from ATN thermals. Look at Pulsar for good pricing and great quality scopes. Armasight makes a dang good unit.

When it comes to thermal hog hunting, you won't be disappointed. Like nothing else. It is freaking fun. My buddies do it 3-4 times a week.

I have a Pulsar Trail XP50 and absolutely love it! Hunting hogs or coyote at night is amazing. Anything decent size is not getting by you if you are scanning. When I setup my rifle is clamped into a tripod or other means to swivel it around the hunting area. I use my phone as the screen and only get on the rifle when I see a target. If you try to stay on the scope for too long you will get some eye fatigue.

Night optics thermal are pretty ******. My buddy is a dealer for them and gets pretty good pricing.

There is a ton of info over in the Other Side of Ranch but you might get overwhelmed. One of the threads if 45 pages long.lol

I always tell me guys to determine what your price range is up front. At least the top end. That way you can narrow it down and see what fits your budget and needs/wants.

If you'd like some free, no pressure, no obligation help, give me a shout. I'm a NV and thermal dealer and I handle all the major manufacturers. I've helped a ton of guys on TBH over the years and I'm sure a few will vouch for me. I will gladly help you narrow the search and most importantly I can tell you what to stay away from and why.

Give me a call if you'd like. (877)350-1818

I'm happy to say that yes you are wrong. You wouldn't have been wrong 3-5 years ago but now you can get a dang NICE unit for $5k. Entry level thermal is now $1,899 and that same scope would have cost you $4,000 last year. With all the new Pulsar models on the market, there are more options than ever under $3,000 and this is the same stuff that would have been $4,000-$5,000 last year.
