Asking for Green Screen expert advice on the best energy provider for the Houston area. I am usually between 1000 and 2000 kw, but the rules and fees are so crazy, it becomes difficult. Looking for first hand experience on a good rate on the bottom line.

Power to Choose is the official, unbiased, electric choice website of the Public Utility Commission of Texas, where all certified electric providers in the State of Texas are eligible to post their electric plans. On the Power to Choose website you can compare electric offers and choose the plan that's right for you.
Make sure you read the facts of each one

I use Cirro and it's been a good experience so far. They were one of the cheaper options. We were moving out of an older town home that was very drafty to a brand new home roughly 2x the sq ft of our townhouse. We had no clue what the consumption would be in the new place so we elected to go with a fixed rate plan. Now that I have a few months of usage, the next go round I'll go variable if it saves me money.

They're just billing companies/middle men so it doesn't matter where your located. Like stated above. Check the fees....base charge, rates for different kwh's used, etc. I also noted the customer service ratings on power to choose. When you switch, make sure you check the right box and/or don't say you want it switched on a certain date...they'll smack you with a bs fee like out of cycle meter reading. Just went thru this and had to get my $27 back! Told em to fix it and refund me because I know the meter reader and it didn't happen! Chk your bills close.
