Yall be careful swimming there right now. I know several girls hospitalized from swimming there earlier in the week. It appears everyone who went swimming in one area contracted some type of infection or parasite. Fever all the way up to 105, can't keep even water down, extreme dehydration, treating them with antibiotics and IVs for dehydration.

I will try to get the exact location and get back to yall of what area of the river they got the sickness from.

Garner area was where the 3 girls contracted parasites or infections. All 3 are at Texas Childrens in Houston now. One of them is worse than the other two. Her kidneys are having a hard time.

We had a large group go for Father's Day week. Several from the group went to the dr with rashes and infections.

It was all blamed on the low flow of the frio as everyone affected spent plenty of time in the water.

            Please be careful.

Dang! Fiancé and I are headed down there 25-27. Hope they get some rain and get a little flow. Stagnant water is no bueno.

Warm stagnant water is not appealing?

Just got back... water had flow... not the greatest but absoutely not warm or stagnant.
Neals float took about 4 hours (with kids stops for ropes and boulder jumps and rapids).
                  Very little walking..
The got rain yesterday so maybe that picked up the flow some.

I was there the week following Father's Day. Water was flowing pretty good. The kids floated from 7bluffs to the house(Comanche crossing), took about two hours.

I was out on the Frio yesterday. It rained quite a bit in the area. Water still seemed pretty low as I did quite a bit of walking.

Last night I was told the antibiotics were working and they were gonna try to get her off the ivs and see if she can stay hydrated. The thing with the kidneys ended up just being her body trying to hold all the liquid it could because the dehydration was so bad. So things are looking much better. The other two are doing fine now.

They had some folks there talking to the docs from the health dept. checking out the situation. I think they are going to try to issue more warnings to folks when the conditions are bad at the frio.

They said when they were there the flow was good, no walking at all. But the water temp was much higher than usual, it was actually warm. I've never felt warm water at the frio under any circumstances. Pretty strange to me. I've been going there for 30+ years. I'm sure how crowded it is these days doesn't help matters.
