Bubba Blades

I have seen several videos on youtube with people cleaning crappie ect with the Bubba Blade. It looks like a good alternative to the junky electric knives that burn out so fast. I know there was a run on them a while back when academy had them on sale or closeout. Any feedback from those that bought them.

I also found these that look just the same for a great price in case anyone is interested.

I have one of the 9" versions. When its 5 or 6 fish I use it, more than that I have a mister twister electric. I had a green and yellow one that lasted easily 6 or 7 years (blades are another story). Im on a blue 'piranha' now. The green one didnt really burn up the switch went bad. I know a guy who just tie wrapped his down

I also use the bubba blade to bone deer meat.

Yep, and when the switch goes out, just wire it up direct and use a foot switch.(like woodworkers use on their routers) Hand won't cramp up on when the cooler is full either!

we used to get at Walmart for like 19.00 bucks not sure what they go for now but they will go thru some reds, trout,or any other fish

I've never used a bubba blade, but am a big believer that the operator makes a bigger difference than the knife.

That's why I haven't bought one. The best knife in the world won't make this operator any better haha

Yup, theryre good but just like any regular filet knife, keep it sharp and itll be fine.

I still prefer my black and decker electric bread knife for filleting anything over 5 or 6 fish.

Have a Dexter, bubba blade and electric. I do like the large grippy handle on the bubba blade. It stays sharp and is good knife. I use the electric when cleaning quantities of fish. Have used bubba blade to clean hogs and it works well, a bit long if anything.

I have an old electric Mr. Twister---got to be at least 20 yrs old and it is still going fine. However, I don't clean that many fish anymore.

I've got an older knife, actually runs off 12V which is convenient and it'll plum run through some fish. Never tried the bubba blade, but have use a few filet knifes, and for more than 10 fish the electric knife is hard to beat

Loved my bubba blade but accidentally dropped it and snapped the tip off. Totally my fault but like others said I do believe it's more in the operators hands than the knife. I went with decree this time.

This would be my reply as well. I will say though that the Dexter is just as good of a knife, and I think it was about $14 compared to $40 ish.

My nephew has a bubba blade. He let me try it. It was too stiff for my taste. I like a knife with a lot of flex when I separate the skin from the filet. I have seen a bubba blade with a thinner blade that may flex better than the one I tried. Really for a filet knife, it just has to be thin, flexible and sharp. I've tried some of the electric knives and use them a lot for freshwater fish. Most of my fishing is saltwater, though, and I just use my Radu knives and keep touching up the edge. There has been many days I pulled into the slip with a six man limit of drum and redfish. Cleaning that amount of rough fish will kill a set of electric knife blades.

I usually prefer a regular filet knife for trout and flounder. Typically use a dexter or the old cheap mustard that stays in the truck.
For high quantities, like when we go white bass or cat fishing, I use an electric. I wore out my mister twister, and now have a 12v rapala.
