    Feeder question

I'm only on ten acres. So I have two feeders for corn on either end of the property but I recently bought a BossBuck 200# from a member here.

    Would you:
    1) allow it to free feed corn during bow season
    2) convert it to a spin feeder
    3) convert it to a timed protein feeder
    4) sell it because three feeders on 10 acres is too much and why waste my time and money feeding protein on such a small place
    5) other

in my opinion you should have 1 corn and 1 protein feeder close to each other.

I would feed protein just as an attractant. Tape up 2 ports and only let the most mature deer eat out of one port. I've had 3 feeders on a 1/4 acre so I think you e got plenty of room for a third feeder

Use the Boss Buck to feed protein at one of the corn feeder locations. I have 39 acres and have one free choice protein and one timed corn feeder. Feed both year round.

Sounds like a lease I was on once.

            3. Use as a timed protein

When we built timed protein feeders our deer/buck sightings increased a bunch all throughout the year, even after the acorns dropped they would line up and fight for protein and wouldn't even touch the corn

Free choice feed sweet feed. Purple bag for horses at tractor supply. Put it right next to one of the corn feeders. Deer hammer it.

This is the first year of having my own place to manage and I have no experience with protein so forgive my ignorance.

                1) Using protein as an attractant? I read you had to mix corn with it just to get deer to eat it.
                2) Protein for heard health and antler growth seems dubious due to the size of the property and the hunting pressure around me.
                3) Seems to me, anything free choice will get devoured by coons pretty quick

Your property will hold more deer if they can eat whenever they want. Put soybeans in it mixed with protein or whatever.
