I noticed the date on my Safety Vest is now out of date so I need to get a new one. My question is do any of you use a device that will lower you to the ground in case you accidentally fall. My wife asked me if I had one after she saw one on a hunting show I was watching. I told her that I don't but it got me to thinking about them since I do hunt by myself during the week when no one else is at the lease. If you do use them which one is recommended? On a side note don't forget to check your safety vest before the season starts.

Use a lifeline. HSS makes them or you can make your own. Loop it around the tree up top by your stand and tie it off at the bottom. The HSS come with a prusik knot so that you can hook on and rais/lower it when climbing up or down. You'll be tied off at all times from the time your feet leave the ground till you're back down. I don't go up a tree without them.

X 2 on the HSS Lifeline. Have used them for years and won't get in a tree without one.
I am also interested in the systems that the OP is referring to such as the Livewire. I did a decent amount of research on them about a year ago and just didn't make a decision on one before season so I ended up staying with the Lifeline.
There seemed to be a few construction related safety systems out there that had not yet moved into the hunting market.
Good thread, in for more info.Last edited by Plain Lucky; 07-09-2017, 09:59 PM.
