Building Your Hunting Arrow by ENewman

I'm starting this for a friend and fellow TBH Brothers ENewman and Harve

He took the time to write this on his IPad. Only to find out you can't upload pdfs to the internet quickly and easily, he's not tech savvy.

They've been reading, posting, sharing and testing arrows for the last couple of years, that I know of.

We tried to post it few ways, and I think we've found a quick and easy way....

I've tested a test pdf with IE, Chrome and Safari, the pdf opened normally.

    Wouldn't in Tapatalk.
To hopefully resolve that I put it in Google Drive. Here's the link:

    PDF File:
    I hope

I can open this link to a PDF document on both my iOS mobile devices and on my PC laptop.
I've been told not everyone can.

I need help to narrow down issue.
I'm thinking they are clicking on first link I posted, which I accidentally deleted the file.
        Or
The link in my quoted post is bad, I can open PDF file cause I have it stored in my Google Drive..

Thanks for the info, plan to read it all when time allows.

I'm putting together a new arrow with a little extra weight up front as we speak.

I built a spreadsheet a few years back that will calculate foc, momentum and ke but can't seem to find it. If I don't locate it soon I'll build another and post here as well.

Here's a chart I made a couple years back shooting a PSE DNA at 60 pounds and 29 inches.

Look st the blackeagle x impact. At 28 inches and a 200 gn tip should put your around that 500 +-10 gn. And around the 20% foc. Still light set up. Great foc and a stiff front lever arm and good flight. If to heavy back off to a 150 gn tip. That's around 445 gn at 17.5% foc.

This is with out a lighted knoc

I just picked up some carnivore 350s running a 125 grain bh plus an additional 90 grains up front and a nocturnal on the rear they finished out at 485.

I haven't done the math yet to get the numbers or even assembled for that matter but I'm looking forward to them.

The carnivores are what I've been shooting. But it's been the 300 spine. They have worked out great for me

I found the spread sheet and threw the numbers in.

Here's what I have but must say that they velocity is estimated based on other similar arrow's shot in this bow.

125 Grain BH plus 90 grain insert.
                        FOC-19
                        Estimated velocity-275 fps.
                        Est. KE-81.5
                        Est. Mom-.592

My concern with those light gpi arrows was durability. I can't see how those then arrows could be as strong as easton axis if both arrows have the same OD.

After shooting through a handful of deer with grizzly tricks I dropped my areow testing and have gone back to the KISS method.

I am now shooting Carbon Express Maxima Blu RZ Arrow Shaft 350, 125 gr magnum slicktricks out of a hoyt defiant turbo. 65# @29.5 in.

I think I can shoot elk with this combo no problem but will be testing it out on deer and pigs again this year.

Durability is all ways a concern. But all arrows can be broke. The most you can hope for is to build an arrow so it can take a straight on hit. This is where footers come into play.
