    Quiet tire question

I have bfg 35/12.5/16.5 on my 99 f350 that I've been running on the truck since I bought it new in 07/98. Replaced several times but now the road tire noise is getting to me ,what is a quieter tire in that size or a quieter tire in the factory size?

Yokohoma has a AT tire that is quite, I run the 10 ply and get 70k out of them on 4x4 suburbans. Not overly aggressive but works good in mud and sand and rocks

Your gonna need to go back to a narrow tire with a less aggressive tread. If you have had those style tires on the truck that long, you aint going to like putting a smaller tire on it. My truck now has Michelin LTX A/T2 and I have no problems, but I also try not to put myself in position where I need a big aggressive tread tire.
I out grew that fad about ten or fifteen years ago. No more singing tires, rock throwing, paint chipping, tire rubbing, lift kits, busted tie rods, wore ball joints, gone A frame bushings, and now I just live boring life.

I hear ya I have the original wheels in the garage and I'm really thinking about going smaller tired of the noise, and as heavy as the truck is I try not to use it as my primary 4x4

Cooper STT Pro are quite. I have 35x12.5x20 on my F250. I drive back and forth to Oklahoma 400+ miles for work. They don't bother me at all. Quite and smooth with minimal wear. I'm not sure if they make a 16.5" though.

Go back to stock tire size, and get a free boost in power and gas mileage. Not to mention extended wear on front end components like bushings and bearings.

Big tires are great on an off road specific vehicle. They can add a lot of very specific performance one you're off the pavement. I spent years playing in the mud, rock crawling and a little desert racing. I've bought a bunch of off road parts throughout the years.

They suck on the road. You will always compromise performance: braking, power, and economy.

But hey, they look cool, and that's what is important to most.

Good quiet tire, with A/T performance: Michelin LTX/MS or the AT. Also look at the Bridgestone Revo, I had great luck with them. Wouldn't hesitate to put on another set of BFG tires either, since they seem to have gotten their rubber compound straightened back out for the LT tires.

Wasn't a lot of rim choices as far as size when I bought the first set,

The new bfg ATs (ko2) are noticbly quieter than the older version.

I have noticed that they start run louder when you get to 15% thread or less.

You guys running BFG AT's on 3/4 and 1 tons getting good mileage? Had 3 friends all get only 20k out of them. They said they rotated them properly.

2-wheel drive 3/4 ton here. Been run-n Michelin M/S. 70K tire. On my second set now. Got 80k out of the first set. Whole lot better than the highway tires I had when it comes to traction. Fairly quiet too. They don't look as aggressive as a lot of A/T tires. But they get the job done, and that's what I was look-n for. Ain't stuck the truck since I've been run-n them. And have handled the ice fine as long as I drive like an old man. Course I drive like that anyway.
